How about a stylized variation of "click." It's an onomatopoeia close to users' hearts. Hearing the remote "click" is a subtle, but universal experience of using XBMC. It signifies that users are in control of their media. It signifies simplicity. It also alludes to belonging to a tightly knit group. Become a part of the community and the world of entertainment is just a button press away.

I personally like Cliq.tv, but that and most other domains are already registered. Of course, everything is available for a price.

There are probably dozens of letter variations and word combinations available if people like the idea and want to explore it further.

funny.. everybody seems to accept the argument "legal problems", but nobody understands. right ?

the story is old... 1000s of cases in history.
get known, be better, be the best (<= you are!) => get sued.

if you reach a certain quality for hard or software, money gets relevant. if not for you, then for some other companies and lawyers.
So I believe renaming will not improve anything for these brilliant and enthusiastic developers.
And as you are not able to get better lawyers, you need a strong partner => get commercial.
