WIP Kodi 14.0 DXVA test thread
#31
There was a bug indeed. If it can't open the dxva-hd processor it should fall back to dxva. @bbonno could you test with this new build?

just curious,
should it remove my XBMC installation ?
and luckely only rename my userdata folder from xbmc to kodi.
without a warning

i do always test setups in portable mode so i can leave my live setup untouched

@Martijn 3000 reported deinterlacing issues already on another thread with another version.

Is there a way to get Kodi to always use multicore rendering when not using DXVA? An example is with AMD cards, with only extremely recently got 4K DXVA support. If Kodi is set to use DXVA and also multicore for software, then it is given a 4K h.264 to playback, it will actually only use a single threaded h.264 decoder and you get nearly unusable performance. Meanwhile, if you playback any h.264 10bit, it does correctly use multicore and the same goes for HEVC. But to get 4K software decoding on an AMD system, you have to have DXVA disabled entirely. :X

Yes, that request is valid and currently only our "architetecture" stands in the way.

I whitelist, hevc, hi10p, wmv9 so that those are always multithreaded.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

OffTopic: Old AMD Card can decode h264 4k without a problem Wink with HD4K they start to limit the resolution to 1080p.

To my knowledge all amd cards are limited to 2048x1152 - only kaveri++ are able to do h264 4K decoding with the UVD. But proof me wrong here, please :-)
