Win Unable to Launch Kodi
#1
Hi
Have loaded and installed Kodi and Gotham but unable to launch them. They come on briefly (I get the splash) then disappear.
Have tried uninstalling and reloding quite a few times.
I have Vista Home Edition SP2 32 bit
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E74000 3.00gb
Video Card is is Nvidia GeForce G100 with all drivers current.
Am at a loss to explain why I am unable to download the program and have surprisng not found anything on searches anywhere to match my issue.
Has anybody experienced this ?
Will do log searches etc if needed.
Thanks0very keen to have XBMC

Definitely gonna need a log file. I have guesses about you graphics card, they're just guesses. To get a log, go to this location. http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Log...#Log_files

Had the same experience because of an incompatible skin (Amber) a couple of months ago using Helix nightlies. Symptoms are the same except you don't have an endless loop restarting Kodi or didn't mention it. Is it a fresh Kodi install?

If it's not, nuke or rename your userdata folder and try executing Kodi. Let us know how it goes.

Hi again
Still having issues trying to launch both Gotham and Kodi.
Have loaded a debug log but struggling with this. Mainly to do with setting up an XML file. Don’t think the one I have done has worked. Know that an “advancedsettings.xml” file is required which I have done by Word but think the formatting is not right. Need some more help and guidance on this (over and above that in XBMC help guides).
When I uninstall/reinstall (reboot) and launch the program it opens at the banner page for about 5 seconds then briefly goes to the main page (with the circles) but this is very brief as it then crashes/disappears.
When I relaunch it only shows for a split second and disappears.
I am very keen to get this launched and running but need help or any insights.
Thanks

It has to be a plain text file. Don't use Word.

Any chance of being able to send me the debug file so I can load direct to my user file ?
Have googled XML extensively and still confused how to apply (set up this small file)
Thanks

I think Windows users can use NotePad. Just change the .txt to .xml when you save it.

Hi Ned
Have loaded following text to an XML file "advancedsettings"

<?xml version="1.0"?>
-<advancedsettings> <loglevel hide="false">2</loglevel> </advancedsettings>

You need to remove the xml version bit and the minus sign in front of the first advancedsettings.

With that said, I'm going to guess our Vista support is pretty spotty at best.
