Which tv box is good right now for less than $100? I was looking at the amazon fire tv and it looks pretty good for the price or is it better to get those android ones like the mx6 or OUYA? or any other ones? I just plan on using xbmc with it.

If you want to get a FIreTV you better do it soon. The current firmware is not rootable. And cannot be downgraded without root. And the longer you wait the more chances of getting a AFTV with the new firmware already installed. Avoid buying from Amazon if possible, probably already shipping with new firmware. Staples has a sale right now http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=204852 , might sell out. They did add unknown sources to the menu option in the new firmware so XBMC should be able to be installed, even if you get the new firmware. Just won't be able do some the mods like using usb for extra storage.

All you need to know about FireTV http://www.aftvnews.com/

+1 for Fire TV. You don't need root to install XBMC.

Today Staples had the FTV for $74 with coupon code 86128. If you are going Android, then the FTV is a great choice.

Spend a few more bucks and get a chromebox. The fire tv is not worth it IMO.

Stay away from anything android.
