So I have xbmc installed. 13.2 version. If I just plug in the picture is in middle of my tv. I changed option to display 2 which fixes the issue but now I have to use gestures to navigate and I find it impossible to use the on screen keyboard to search for a movie... am I missing something ? I do not have an apple tv. Thank you

You're not missing anything. That's how it currently works. Right now you need to use a bluetooth keyboard in this kind of setup or a smartphone type remote.

Oh okay... how would I use my android smart phone to control it ?

Go into XBMC-> Settings -> Services and turn on all the remote control options and the webserver.
