Sound, none
#1
I know this has been asked plenty before. I have tried it all to the point i will just ask. ( even to the point that XBMCbuntu no longer allowed me to change the audio options, grayed out)

But i have no sound, none on the desktop, None in XBMCbuntu. I love the idea of this, but it sucks that Ubuntu and deepin i can have sound.

Also plenty addons don't work, says incompatible. I have the Gotham download, just downloaded it the other day from the website? That's not my main concern. Getting some audio to have the

ultimate media experience.

One thing i can say, it shows I have HDMI and Generic audio. if that helps.

thanks in advance.

One thing i see is the pulse audio. which i have tried over and over to get to work. to the fact that XMBCbuntu grayed out my audio options as i said before.

Read those FAQs and see if you really want to use pulseaudio:

So if now know what are you trying to achieve...then decide if you really want to install pulseaudio or better use Alsa.

xbmcbuntu blocks the installation of pulseaudio by default. If you want to install it anyways, remove the relevant pinning file in /etc/apt/preferences.d/ afterwards run sudo apt-get update and then: sudo apt-get install pulseaudio libasound2-plugins followed by a sudo reboot

Thanks fritsch , Here is how i fixed it.

I deleted

/etc/apt/preferences.d/pulseaudio.pref
/etc/apt/preferences.d/libasound2-plugins

and then

sudo apt-get install pulse audio

reboot

fritsch i seen on another post you replied to, you said sudo mv /etc/apt/preferences.d/pulseaudio.pref
I could not do that so that's why i just deleted. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=195286

thanks to wsnipex, and David for you suggestions.

So it is working?

Don't forget libasound2-plugins to get "normal" ALSA applications to use pulseaudio.
