Linux Video stops, audio keeps playing
#1
I've seen a few posts on this topic, but never any solutions. I'm running the FernetMenta version of XBMC on Lubuntu. Every once in a while (or sometimes more frequently), the video will stop and the audio keeps going. Sometimes the video will then catch up by playing very quickly, or the system will just halt.

I'm streaming video over NFS, but my LAN is blazing fast. I ran a speedtest (WAN) on the Lubuntu box and got around 40Mbps downstream, so if it's that fast via WAN, it's certainly as fast via LAN. I don't think it's a network issue.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Post your logfiles. We don't have a crystalball.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Ran "tail -f" on the log and watched it. This is the only line that was spewed out when the video froze up.

Code:
23:23:13 T:139909978167040 WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer

Debug Log <- this is needed and not a single line of text that tells the effect and not the issue.

Edit: As I don't know what hardware you are running (as you did mention exactly nothing that could help looking in the crystalball) also post dmesg | pastebinit _after_ the issue appears.

Totally /offtopic (sorry) Who is J.M. and where is your signature quote from?

J.M. is one of the greatest xbmc developers we ever had (Jonathan Marshall).

Hardware: Asus Chromebox, 2GB RAM. OS: Lubuntu 14.04.

I'll turn on debugging and post a full log next time, indicating the timestamp where the video froze. I'll post dmesg too.

Ok, here's logs and such. Both pastes expire in 6 days.

Kodi debug log: http://pastebin.com/bkL4FGwp (look for WaitForBuffer to see where the trouble starts)

dmesg output: http://pastebin.com/D9nJjc8G
