ASUS Chromebox Wi-Fi
#1
Can anyone tell me how the wireless performs on the asus chromebox? Would the signal be good enough if I put the chromebox in my 2nd story bedroom and am trying to watch UStvnow or just streaming stuff from a shared hard drive?

My router is on the main floor (first floor) beside the tv in the living room.

you're asking for a simple answer to one with a very large number of variables, not limited to:

- router being used
- construction of building
- wifi congestion (eg, apt complex)
- bit rate of videos being streamed
- bandwidth of streaming server

if you're asking a more general "does the ChromeBox have good wifi relative to other SFF solutions like the NUC, Zotac, and Brix" then I would say absolutely. I'm able to get about 14-15MB/s sustained transfer over my LAN on 5Ghz and 8-9MB/sec on 2.4Ghz, which is plenty fast for streaming just about anything.

But you already said you wanted to run Windows, so I'm not sure why you're asking about a ChromeBox again.

Ok, I see. Sounds decent. I just wanted to get windows on it for some specific applications that only run on windows, but if it is able to run amazingly well for openelec, then I will look into it.
