Live TV HDHOMERUN Prime MythTV Cox Cable Card

I got my hdhomerum prime with Cox cable card and mythtv setup a couple week ago. Wanted to share for those that are interested in a similar setup. It works really well and saves me about $50 a month in cable boxes and dvr subscriptions.

Awesome video and explanation.

I recently purchased the HD Homerun prime as well and have it working ok with NPVR but I'm not too happy with how its working. I will be trying this setup tomorrow.

Thanks!

I used mythbuntu as it was a simple setup FYI... I had issues when I tried to use full Ubuntu with Mythtv installed initially.

Yea after looking into it I see it doesn't support Windows yet unless you compile it yourself or something(windows pc is my server so need the backend on that) so I'll be holding off now.

You might be able to do a virtual machine running it. I have a dedicated box, but you might look into it.

I did an in depth blog post on setting this up as I have had a few people ask for it. It is located here http://gameroomsolutions.com/live-tv-setup/

Also I setup and tested this on virtualbox on a pc running Windows 7 x64 and it worked great. I will post the how-to here before too long. Thanks

It works well on a virtual machine after some testing. For those that do not want to dedicate a box or want to test this setup, I did a guide here http://gameroomsolutions.com/set-up-myth...l-machine/.
