im trying to stream AVI files from my server by FTP but i get the error "one or more items failed to play"
MKV and MP4 work fine

oh yes, i forgot about that
but im still looking for a solution, the guy in that thread suggested playing it locally.

Yes that works but the whole point of the seedbox is so access the files remotely.

ive edited the FTP info to protect my privacy

all i understand is that theres a problem demuxing

Interesting problem, looks similar to my post just 3 above you in the Windows section - “[BUG] WebDav versus FTP over Internet, neither good enough due to bugs”. In my 3 file examples the FTP over the internet fails in the same spot - Creating DeMuxer. With yours you have 30 seconds between the Creating DeMuxer and the first Error statements. It appears that anytime the opening process goes over 30 seconds, XBMC / Kodi fails. In my case all 3 tests were with .avi files, but with FTP over the internet one of them played OK and all of them played over the internet using WebDavS. I will post my mediaInfo for each of my 3 test files.
