I have removed/purged old nightly and installed unstable ppa and Kodi 14 beta 1.
Running Ubuntu 14.04.1 Gnome. No menu item is created for Kodi so there is no way to run except from command line. Running kodi from command line works fine and version seems to work with all of my ususal addons and libraries including mythtv.

UPDATE
I had to reboot system for Kodi menu item to show up. It was already in the menu according to the Main Menu app but was not being displayed or returned froma search.
