EBAY PICO power supply purchase

I bought what was advertised as a "Mini Box STD-12160 192W 16A 12V AC-DC Power Adapter" and when it arrived I found out it wasn't exactly as advertised. The seller has not replied to my inquiry about this issue or asking where to get an adapter.

It has a P4 plug on it and not a 2.5mm x 5.5mm barrel plug to connect to the card.

Is adding a barrel plug something I can do myself and if so what is the wiring diagram?

AMD AM1 Kabini 5350 Radeon HD 8400
ASRock AM1H-ITX
Kingston 8gb DDR3
128 GB SSD Mint 17
560GB HD

Hi,
Can you post a pic of the whole contraption?

Actually, if it's a P4 4 pin, it should have two yellow and two black leads. The yellow is your +12v, the black is the neutral, or ground (not too sure of the correct terms).
The idea is to connect the yellow to the center connector of the barrel plug and the black to the exterior/outside connector. If in doubt, check with a voltmeter to see which one's which.
A pic would clear this out though...

Here you go ... yes it has a P4 on the end. I can't tell what color wires though

I was trying to find an adapter that had a P4 on one end and a female 2.5mm x 5.5mm barrel plug on the other but have not found anything.

I see, in this case you would need a voltmeter. I would cut the connector and identify the wires. Assuming that you have two 12v and two grounds, I would connect the 12v together and the grounds together and then I would solder the connector.

@Caddisfly, on the label of your power brick, you should see a pinout diagram on the top right of the picture you posted and this diagram indicates the voltage on the pins of the P4 connector.
Google should help find this missing info on the pinout of the barrel connector your 'card' needs...

So as long as you are knowledgable of needed safety precautions and the dangers of playing with AC/DC, and are handy with a soldering iron and able to read a wiring diagrams, then it should be a simple mod...
But if your not across the safety aspects of playing with AC/DC, or have lacking skill, then it's best and safest to get some real help (not posts on the web)...
Or take a couse and learn the corret way...

Remember, people have died playing with PSU's.
Recently one lady died simply listening to music via earbud headphones on her laptop which she had charging using a cheap and obviously faulty AC charged...

I don't mean to ber rude but unless you have some electrical/electronic knowledge, best to buy plug and play products from reputable sources and avoid such mods...
I'm a XBMC novice :)

So, a few important things:

The AM1H-ITX takes a 19V input, not 12V input.

Your system doesn't need 192W. I just built a 5350/AM1H-ITX systems with 4GB RAM, 120GB SSD and 3TB drive and it peaks around 40W at 100% load.

You can get a 19V 65W 2.5mm * 5.5mm AC adapter from Amazon.com for under $20

Cheapo $8: http://www.amazon.com/ARTS65A-RA-Replace...B005FDO5MQ

Better $17: Delta makes good power supplies: http://www.amazon.com/GENUINE-Delta-Tosh...B00AQRZSZE ($16.99)

I would return that one or open a dispute if the seller doesn't get back to you and just buy the right one off Amazon. I would not risk modifying the AC adapter to save $10-$20.

Thanks all for the advise ...

Dougie, this power supply is not for the AM1H-ITX board ... I have a PSU that works fine for that and my error in not clarifying that. This is for another build that has an old DELL power supply that went burned out and I have a 12v Pico .

I show my stupidity here ... thought it would be a simple matter to find a P4 adapter to a barrel plug.
