i am running XBMC 13 on ubuntu 14.04 connected to an Denon 1912 AVR which support the HD Audio sources. I think i can hear a difference between the normal an HD sound but my AVR does not show the DTS HD/MA Displaynotice when i watch Movies with HD sound. so my Question is is : does XMBC ( no pulseaudio, using alsa ) passthrought the HD sound track but sets the codec information to DTS ? Does alsa passthrought the HD track and my AVR interprete the HD as normal DTS because the codec is DTS but the bitrate is DTS-HD ? How can i enable the HD passthrought if XBMC or alsa downmix the HD to normal DTS sound ?
