XBMC/Kodi and Overclocking
#1
Hi everyone, I ran into an issue while running The last release of Gotham 13.2
My rig is using a Sapphire 7850 GPU that i have overclocked to 1085mhz and

Now the problem occurs when i start playing video, when i push play on the video
the clock speeds on my GPU drop back down to the stock 860mhz

I have noticed playing around that this only happens when watching a MP4 or MKV video
if the video is AVI or i am listening to mp3s or internet radio, my GPU clock speeds stay at
1085mhz

Any in site into this problem would be appreciated.
Thanks

Why would you want to overclock for . watching video?

Overclocking doesn't work for video playback if you are using dxva. Use software decoding instead if you must have overclocking on while you are watching videos.

I have to ask why you need this too though. I have a 7850 also and overclocking allows me to push madVR settings higher, but for XBMC I don't see what good it would do.

I am running 2 monitors, and frequently game on one and video on the other
the 7850 will play most games well while doing video as well
some games must be run windowed or borderless but thats not a big deal
I have switched back to vlc while gaming because it does not have this problem but i
will try your solution.
