I want to use my xbmc installation with a Xbox360 media remote. I have one of the newer smaller ones. I bought one of these generic remotes (it is even mentioned in the xbmc remotes help) with IR receiver from eBay. The generic remote works with xbmc though it doesn't do all the buttons right. I know you can map these so that doesn't matter.
The problem is, that I can't get my Xbox media remote to work with the IR receiver. The remote has two functions. One is to control your television the other one is to control your xbox360 . for the TV function I can search for the right IR channel. That doesn't really help because the TV function is only two or so buttons that don't do the right things in xbmc. But they work so I guess the receiver is compatible with the remote.
So how do I get the IR receiver recognise the remote? I tried several forum posts but nothing seems to work. I set lirc to custom to try and set it up myself but no button press gets recognised from the receiver. The pre defined xbox360 media files didn't work either. I can use the generic remote that came with it but that's not a nice option.
Any ideas?
