X8-H Speaker crackle/pop on XBMC start play
#1
MINIX X8-H with MINIX XBMC Edition
Video via HDMI to Pioneer Plasma / Audio via SPDIF to Denon AVR
Android Audio set to output via SPDIF (Settings - Advanced)
XBMC System/Settings/Audio set to Enable Pass-through with AC3 and DTS capable AVR

Have a collection of DVDs that were converted with MakeMKV, all play fine on a WDTV Live SMP or VLC or WMP (no speaker crackle at start-up)

When using XBMC the ones that are encoded as DD 5.1 or DTS have a loud crackle/pop when they start then the sound is OK. No other Video or Audio problems - just when these particular files start-up. I have tried various combinations of settings but am getting nowhere. Anybody have an ideas as to why the X8-H does this ??

Minix maintains that version, you need to ask them for support

Or, see if the same thing happens with XBMC/Kodi from http://kodi.tv/download/

No, Minix supports the h/w and the launcher not the XBMC that is included.
XBMC with the unit is stock 13.1 Gotham

Ok then, it's not 100% stock but slightly modified as per the following from the MINIX FAQ. So if it is developed in conjunction with XBMC aka KODI, then surely someone from KODI should be able to provide some sort of answer.

There are many different versions of XBMC currently available, though we recommend the XBMC MINIX Edition (Gotham), which we developed in partnership with the developers at XBMC. XBMC MINIX Edition (Gotham) is based upon the latest version of XBMC (13.1) and has been modified to provide the optimum XBMC experience on Android

If it's modified how would the Kodi team have any idea unless the same thing is happening with the standard version of kodi as Ned stated
