Deleting Recordings
#1
Just switched to Kodi Beta 2. When deleting a recorded show, Kodi hangs/freezes and I need to reboot. Any suggestions or know issues/solves?

I am embarrassed to say that I haven't even tried helix, scarecrow has been keeping the addon up to date for it though. Please post the swmc log (on pastebin) after a failed attempt to delete a file.

tried to post, but Pastebin doesn't allow posts larger than 512k. is there another way to post the file for you to review?

I didn't think we had these giant log problems anymore, remember its the swmc log I want, not xbmc.

You can put it on my g-drive:

Looks like the file has been uploaded and the file size is 9.8MB (ServerWMC.log). Let me know if you need anything else.

That is a crazy long log, we need to fix that on our end. Unfortunately I don't see anywhere in the log where you try to delete a recording. Can you restart swmc to make a clean log, and after it starts, try to delete a recording on one of your client machines again. After that fails, then send me the log again. If you want to check it first, there should be a place in the log where there is a call to DeleteRecording. Thanks.

Just a quick FYI regaring the log size. Apart from the fact this setup has 318 channels and 3 clients (BedRoom LivingRoom Basement) online alot of the time, meaning that when XBMC does the EPG refreshes everfy 30 minutes there are at least 2000 lines of log output generated. It also seems like Kodi is now calling some calls (GetRecordingsAmount GetTimerCount GetChannelCount) every 10 seconds from every client, which seems excessive. We might have to put in caching in pvr.wmc to not send all of these back to ServerWMC... not sure why Kodi would be polling that so frequently, it would seem unlikely to change dramatically in 10 seconds, and there are already mechanisms for the backend to trigger the clients to refresh data when a change occurs...

This thread prompted me to clean up some of my recordings and test things out on Helix b3 which I fully switched my test box over to last night. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I had no issues deleting several recordings.

@pluto - You mentioned you are on Helix b2. If that's the case, try switching to b3 and see if there is any difference: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/win32/k..._beta3.exe
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

Thanks everyone - I've updated to Beta 3 and the ServerWMC.log. The log file is uploaded for your review and is only 321K. I did not experience any issues/hangs/freezes with this Beta 3 release. Deleting the file work fine and with little delays. But I am noticing that the log file continues to grow even when the clients are not using the server.

Maybe it was an issue with my setup and Beta 2.

Not sure about the recording deletion, but the logs are still showing several requests from Kodi every 10 seconds. Ill look more into either caching it, or letting Kodi team know about it (and finding out if it's really meant to be making that many calls or not)
