x265 and 3d video decoding in software
#1
Hey everybody,

I currently got a HTPC with a old'ish AMD richland based processor, however, as a long time Arch Linux user, I'm getting a wee bit fed up with all the pain in needing xorg backports due to the catalyst driver being, well, tremendously annoying. So, in summery, I'm going get rid of it.

Now, my question. I want to be able to: Decode x265 in software, smoothly and without any drama and also play back 3D videos.

And thats about it.. What type of hardware should I be looking for? Will a i5-4570S do?

helix has h265 software support, and openelec 4.2.1 backports it to Gotham.

Gotham and helix play hsbs and htab. Some systems will okay full sbs and tab too. No version of xbmc/kodi will play mvc 3d without an external player.
