CS918II Smart Media Player Overheating
#1
Hi All
I recently bought a:

Quad core, RK3288, Android 4.4 kk, Mali T764 , Model # CS918II, 2GB DDR Ram, 8GB, Media Player.
Good specs, for XBMC yer?

1st night spent a few hours (still on my L plates :-) ) setting Neon Nox, just how I like it, then it turned itself off.
I checked it out and the bottom of the unit would of burnt my hand, if I had left it there 4 to long. Very hot!

It's been a week and I have been monitoring it. Leaving it turned on but not using it. The bottom still gets pretty warm.

Do I send back?
Thoughts/Feedback?
Anyone come across this before?
Anyone have the same model?

I contacted the seller who advised they have had no such feedback....hmmm

Many Thanks
Blush

If the one you have is similar to this one:

it appears to be pretty small & without much in the way of air vents to allow heat escape. You might try affixing some tall(er) rubber feet to the bottom to lift it up off the surface below, that may allow a bit more cooling effect. But I would think about returning it & getting something else.

Hey mate, not sure. That link directs me 2 albibaba main page only. But I did buy from them and yes the unit is pretty small. Was more excited 2 get good specs for a great price and AP hotspot, I guess.
