i have a win-8 machine running kodi, and i have a mac machine running kodi.

i have some files on the win-8 machine that i want to see from the mac.

i have all the switches flipped on in settings/service/upnp on the mac (same on the win-8 machine).

so, when i go to videos/files/add videos.../browse/upnp devices on the mac all i see is my hd-home-run-prime (no kodi instance from win-8),
but oddly when i navigate similar on the win-8 machine, i can see the mac instance of kodi...!

i can also see the mac instance on my panasonic smart tv dnla listing, but alas no win-8 instance...

any suggestions for things to look into for this?

Are the files on your win8 machine scraped into the library on that machine? upnp shares library.
