Vero OSMC
I've seen posts that Vero + Kodi will support bitstreaming HD Audio (TrueHD, etc). Is this work already done and its verified that it will indeed bitstream HD Audio?
They advertise that it does. If it doesn't, you will be entitled to a full refund.

Is it even out yet? Their website makes it sound like it ships now, but things I've read online said "early march", which I guess technically is now...
Their order page says early march, their blog http://progress.getvero.tv/ has it's last entry on 11 feb.

Looks like Vero is shipping to the first Order customers this week....

Be very interested to see if the experience using OSMC on Vero is any better than OpenELEC and Geexbox on Cubox-i. I suspect it will not be but I do hope it is and that the improvements make their way back into the Linux kernel and/or Kodi.
I very, very, very much doubt it can be better than what wolfgar and smallint can achieve...
I'm really curious about the whole OSMC thing. I've tested it on my Raspberry Pi, and I'll have to say, it runs as great as RaspBMC. Sam have announced that he want to make OSMC available to other architectures, such as x86. I'm running Kodi on top of Ubuntu on my Chromebox, and I miss the ability to change system settings inside the Kodi GUI, like you can in OpenELEC and OSMC. The great thing about OSMC is that is based on Debian, so you could install applications from Apt. This makes the OS much more flexible.

When it comes to Vero my feelings are mixed. It's (basically) a rebranded Cubox-i with OSMC preinstalled. The Vero itself got all the software related issues that the Cubox-i got, and if this box is going to be a hit, these problems must be solved. If Sam and his team are able to get rid of these issues, my guess is that the Cubox-i is going to be a "Killer Kodi ARM device". It's small, got "gigabit ethernet", an E-sata port, and cost under 100$
But Rpi2 is probably as powerful, and has 3D MVC decoding in hardware - for MKV files at present, with ISO being worked on. This is a "killer" feature that many people seem to buy the crappy vidon etc android boxes for, but it is in Rpi now too.

To be fair, VidOn isn't crappy. It's less than ideal. Even with its shortcomings, it has full HD audio support, which Raspberry Pi lacks.

It is horses for courses of course. Some people value MVC decoding, some value HD Audio. (Doesn't vidon require a monthly payment for that?). But people who buy android boxes because they advertise (sometimes falsely) 3D MVC support now have another option.

Hadn't seen any reference to 3D MVC hardware decode on the Pi 2. I have seen that it has the ability to trigger 3D SBS and TAB in video output modes which is unusual, but hadn't seen MVC decode (or Frame Packed 3D output)?

Be interesting to know where this info came from nickr.
noggin mate, you must have been asleep for a few days I thought you would have been all over it by now Wink
