Solved Can't change sort order on specific screens in Kodi 14
#1
I've been playing with Kodi 14 beta 5, and noticed something that seems to be a step backward.

In Gotham, the Recordings section lets me select a different sort order for each screen. For example, I can sort the list of programs by name, open the list of episodes for a specific program, and sort the episodes by date. In fact, I could select a different sort order for each list of episodes.

In Helix, I don't seem to be able t do this. I tried sorting the list of programs by name, then opened the list of episodes for a program, and sorted the episodes by date. When I escaped back to the list of programs, it was now sorted by date instead of by name.

I'd like to have programs sorted by name (to easily find the program we'd like to watch), and episodes sorted by date (from earliest to latest). This doesn't seem to be possible in the new release.

Is this a bug or a feature?

(I posted this in the MythTV section, but I'm assuming it applies to all pvr variants.)

this was changed as we don't want to sort each folder separately. if you have 20 sub folders, for example one per channel, you don't want to change the sort order for each of them.

an improvement could be a sort order per directory level for the recording's window

That would be perfect!

It would also be great if the directory maintained its position (as it did in Frodo) when moving up a level. Details here:

that's fixed today and should be available in the next nightly or RC2

Wow, fantastic! Thanks!

That had been a constant annoyance with Gotham.

i've create a PR which adds the sort order on a per directory-level basis, but i'm not sure if this finds its way into Helix.

Thanks, guys, for the quick response on this! That's excellent.

I think this is the way most users would want it to work.

Both of the issues I reported are fixed in the latest nightly build.

A big "thank you" to the developers for all the work (and advocacy) that went into getting this done!
