Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a tablet based on the MediaTek 8121 SoC. I have goolged around but can't find any information about this device and it's compatibility with XBMC's hardware acceleration support. I would like to know if XBMC (or SPMC) will be able to play 720p movies without shutter.

The specific tablet that I'm looking at is the Lenovo A8 8inch.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

It depends if the SoC manufacturer, in this case MediaTek, have implemented OpenMax IL drivers for VPU hardware video accelerated decoding in their Android firmware images for Stagefright and/or MediaCodec API

Since the Lenovo A8 tablets are relatively new devices delivered with Android 4.2 or 4.4 it PROBABLY supports the MediaCodec API, but not for sure
