how to check if HDMI CEC is active?

how can i check if the HDMI CEC is working,
or if there is a capable device detected?

There should be a CEC submenu under XBMC's hardware menu (Input devices).

That should bring up adapter settings:

unfortunately i cant see the pic.

on my pi i could click on input devices/peripherals
on my fire tv peripherals is greyed out, but cec works - that confuses me.

it looks like this menu is not neccesary to use cec.

You don't need it for CEC to be functional; you do need it to customise its functionality Smile.

yea, but in this case, i cant see if the device is hdmi cec capable or not.
luckily on the fire tv it works, but on my other box it doesnt, and i cant figure out why.
