I have the same problem. When using xboxdrv-ubuntu, the xpad module isn't loaded.

Kodi works fine when I stop the xboxdrv service with `sudo service xboxdrv stop`.

Fresh Lubuntu and installed Helix, everything working fine
after adding ubuntu-xboxdrv (http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/06/ubunt...drv-driver)
Kodi gets stuck on the main menu with the effect of holding down the left arrow.

removing ubuntu-xboxdrv and it works fine.

with both set to false (still not sure why I have to do both), and ubuntu-xboxdrv installed, Kodi is now able to boot and be usable.

So it appears that the combination of ubuntu-xboxdrv being installed and having joystick input enabled is causing a conflict, and resulting in Kodi being unusuable.

interesting quirk, if I have Kodi actively running, and install ubuntu-xboxdrv via ssh, then the symptoms immediately start.

I'll grab the zip tonight, but if you could pm me the steps to take, probably faster. I'm not that familiar with make commands yet.
