Help with my htpc - I want to turn it on with my IR controller

Hi there everyone...

I got this IR receiver and remote:
http://www.amazon.com/Internal-Memory-Re...=fcr-120br

It completly works with my XBMC Gotham, but I want to know if there's a way to turn my htpc also with teh remote by moding the cable or something...

It uses this cable to connect to the motherboard:

By the way the motherboard I'm using is: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A78HTPC/

I know how to use a soldering pen if needed, but the thing is I don't know what exactly to change to make this possible, and if it's even possible to do with my hardware...

But I'll be really thankful for any help you give me...

PS: I'm pretty excited about the Kodi v14 player stable version that will be coming soon Big Grin

The remote you have doesn't support ACPI S5 as far as I'm aware, you will require something that will let the system return to S0 power state when off, usually this is tied into the PSU unit or special ACPI/CIR header on MB. (The ACPI and CIR headers are MB dependent, your MB specs for Internal I/O Connectors doesn't state whether it has these, but does have 24-pin ATX Power connector which all MB's have.)

Try looking for an Imon receiver from a nearby vendor/ebay.
Here is a little info on it, as you can see it has a 24/3 Pin Standby Power Extension Cable: Link

I don't think it is possible to power on the pc from a full shutdown state as this is a usb device. You can use the feature 'wake on usb' in bios to start the pc, but it only works if the pc is in sleep mode.

I need to buy the simerec IR switch, right?

That would work as it uses the F-panel power switch, although prepare for some case modding (possible a dremel tool) to get IR line of sight to the F-panel.
