Hi

Want to stream audio through to a 2 channel amp with no quality loss. (spdif connection)

Will an M8 box accomplish this (Yes I have asked this question elsewhere in a different way but no one answered)

Or anyone have advice what will best suit my needs. (I already own an MX box which I use as an HTPC)

Thanks in advance

A simple Fire Stick would suit your audio needs just fine as would a chromecast if you don't mind using a phone/tablet as a controller. And they would be a whole lot cheaper at less then $40 each.

Thanks for the reply and interest.

Now I'm probably being thick, but which device would i plug the stick into? The amp has no network capability and no usb or HDMI. Just spdif.

Does your TV have SPDIF out? If so use that to connect the HDTV to the Amp. Or is this Minus a HDTV?

No a HD TV is involved Blush

I suppose I'm after a cheap audio streamer so would ideally like a short a route as possible from the source to the amp.

The Amp has a good quality DAC and so just need to get the raw files to it,

Since i use XBMC elsewhere I thought it may be a good idea Huh

The Rasberry PI might be an option if your AMP supports Analogue input

No S/PDIF on a RPi

So any cheap Box you can run XBMC / Kodi on with a S/PDIF connection would suffice, maybe one with Dual WIFI for streaming reliability.

Run Squeezelite, a hedless Squeezebox client software emulator on it.
If you want to setup with a GUI and XBMC, then use the XSqueeze audio add-on.
XSqueeze downloads the Squeezelite software automatically.

On the Server side download and run Logitech Media server software.

You can then possibly control the XBMC / Squeezebox client from your Smartphone / Tablet.

I have an actual Squeezebox Classic and this Smartphone app works well with it and the server software.
Great Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC, in this Squeezebox.
