Press the "\" key. That should get XBMC out of full screen mode. Then you can minimize it like any other window.

I generally just hit the start button on the keyboard, or Win + d to show desktop.

ALT-TAB also gets you to any other open programs or your desktop

Hello guys thanks for the suggestions.
I chose to go with KRICKER's response since this is what I am looking to do.
Burcs' and MFU95's options only give an immediate solution because soon as you loose focus on the window you are using, the UI reverts back to full screen XBMC.
