Under settings / Appearance / File lists / I have the button clicked that states ignore articles when sorting eg The; yet when I go into Movies / titles/ my movies are sorted with the word the, example: Arrival The arrival Associate The Axe Is there something that I can do to stop this from happening in this area. Under Video / Files they are sorted without "the"

So you want it to say something like
Axe, The
instead of
The Axe
?
I don't think that's currently possible, but I'm not entirely sure. XBMC/Kodi can identify the sort token and ignore it for sorting purposes, but I'm not sure about altering the displayed title using sort tokens.

Well, if you're using the default Confluence skin.
Settings > Appearance > Skin > File Lists > Ignore articles when sorting (e.g. "the")
Make sure that's checked.

That will only change the order. It won't change how the title is displayed.
