It's all explained here: MySQL (wiki). There's no "directory" to select with a MySQL server. Are you talking about setting up SMB sharing?

SMBup no longer required in Yosemite either. SMB sharing on OSX just works with XBMC.

NFS is faster, its very easy to setup on OSX, Noobs tutorial here:

Sorry for the poor explanation. I installed mysql and the server is running, I created the xbmc user and now all that is in order. The problem is not now as further configuration, ie Gotham xbmc I have installed on my pc which is the act of mysql server, no matter what want and start from 0. What should I do now? I must share in NFS to other computers in my network to view data that goal in my local xbmc? As comentais will change the smbup by nfs manager, but I Directory I have to share and what are the steps?

Thanks again.

I am following the following manual:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=196821

As I have installed on a Mac Os have done the following:

http://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Setting_up_M...b=Mac_OS_X

So far everything I have right and the mysql server is running.

When I want to start with the next step, ie configure computers is when I mess and not as follow.

http://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Setting_up_M...b=Mac_OS_X

From here, that I have to do with my installation of Gotham locally on the same computer that is running mysql?

No matter what I want, I want to start from the beginning, but I have to share directory for other computers on my network can access the library.

I hope I have explained better, my native language is Spanish and the English do not dominate.

Thanks again.

We are nearly there, as you have followed the MySQL setting up guide database sharing should be running on your Mac.

Now next step..
On every machine that is running XBMC or Kodi that you need to access the SQL database you have to add text to the advancedsettings.xml file.

Follow Steps 3 and 5 in this guide:

http://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Setting_up_XBMC

The userdata folder on the Mac running Gotham:
In the Mac OSX Finder app:
Go > Connect to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/XBMC

For Kodi it is:
Go > Connect to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Kodi

Thanks a lot.
I've done that but I see nothing in any of the computers where I have installed xbmc as a customer. I created the file as follows:

<advancedsettings>
<videodatabase>
<type>mysql</type>
<host>192.168.1.64</host>
<port>3306</port>
<user>xbmc</user>
<pass>xbmc</pass>
</videodatabase>
<musicdatabase>
<type>mysql</type>
<host>192.168.1.64</host>
<port>3306</port>
<user>xbmc</user>
<pass>xbmc</pass>
</musicdatabase>
<videolibrary>
<importwatchedstate>true</importwatchedstate>
<importresumepoint>true</importresumepoint>
</videolibrary>
</advancedsettings>

And I've put in the userdata directory each but the movies are added.

Thanks again for all your help.

Have you payed attention to this from the same page:

Quote:Even if the media is on the same computer as one of the XBMC instances, you MUST use a network share path. You cannot use a local file path with MySQL.

So I can not share a directory where the data I have installed and share it red?
I thought I could share a directory from the same pc where I run all my mysql nfs network manager and that the same pc use the same location to store the data.
I do not care start creating my database from 0.
Actually that's where I mess. I can not create a network share for all my network in this pc?
In that case you can or can not longer follow the manual not know how or where to create it.

thanks in advance.

Firstly make sure you remove SMBup, and just use OSX Yosemite SMB file sharing.

Yes you can share from a local machine if setup correctly.

Make sure in OSX System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing > Pick folders to Share > Options > Share Files and Folders using SMB > ticked. Also make sure the Username is ticked in the "Account" window on that page.

in XBMC Gotham this is the correct way to add media Shares via a Networked path so mySQL works properly:

Video > Files > Add Videos > Browse > Zeroconf Browser > "Computer Name"(SAMBA) > Pick Folder > OK

Just to be clear "pick folders to share" in OSX SMB and also XBMC, is where you keep your actual video and music files you want to share across the network. It is NOT the folder location of mySQL.

Quote:Using a MySQL library allows you to store information about your whole video library in a central database, so that multiple XBMC devices can access the same information at the same time.

The SMB server shares files to XBMC, mySQL keeps a database with information about your XBMC library.

I installed smbup because I could never smb share files in Yosemite so with this additional software if I succeeded . Again I am testing in Yosemite but still not working.

Something is definitely wrong in the way you have setup SMB sharing on the Mac.
Please read these:
http://support.apple.com/en-au/ht1549
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18707

SMBup has not been needed since OSX Lion and the early days of Mavericks.
Another suggestion is look at possibly fixing permissions on the directories you are sharing via SMB.

Read this thread with a fix regarding Sharing and Permissions (at the bottom):

http://forum.osmc.tv/showthread.php?tid=16086

Also check OSX Firewall is OFF:

System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall

You have to get SMB working in Yosemite without SMBup before even attempting to sort out mySQL.
