Linux xscreensaver with Kodi 14.0
#1
Hi, prior to updating to Kodi 14.0 i used this script at start up to disable xscreensaver while xbmc was running:
xbmc-prevent-xscreensaver
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xbmc-...reensaver/

Maybe that was just a hack but i didn't see another solution on forum or elsewhere.

Now that i've upgraded, how do i disable to gnome xscreensaver while running Kodi, or preferably (since Kodi maybe minimized to desktop) only while fullscreen in Kodi? Is there xscreensaver support? If so i couldn't find it. I'm currently running latest stable mythbuntu distro.

Please let me know if you need more info.

Thanks in advance!

you have to change both occurrences of xbmc.bin to kodi.bin in https://github.com/graysky2/xbmc-prevent...creensaver

Installed the script. Having a problem with OSD popping up every minute due to script. Using Kodi and this didn't happen with Gotham

wsnipex, was right of course and updating the script worked. Was having other issue that kept script from running...long story, but its working now.

Issue with xscreensaver reminds, there are still times i'd like to minimize kodi and launch browser or other ubuntu util and still have screensaver support.

Have an older plasma tv and don't want to risk screensaver not coming on, so does anyone know a way to include xsreensaver support?

to SpottedDog, what does the OSD say? I did a fresh install (not an upgrade) and didn't get this issue, if it helps.

You can use this addon: https://sourceforge.net/projects/osscreensavermanager/ . It can be configured to disable screen saver only during playback. I could add a support for fullscreen vs. windowed mode but I think Kodi does not notify plugins when it changes. I'll have to check.
