Android Pivos XIOS DS black screen playing a movie on Kodi
#16
Hi there, apologies to jump on your thread but the symptoms are exactly the same as I am experiencing on an Amlogic M8 box. I have even downgraded back to 13.2 and I still get the same problem now... beginning to wish I'd never updated it.

So... Install the test build that fixes this..

I installed the test-build to hopefully fix my black screen while videos were playing after upgrading to Kodi. Now I get half a black screen all the time...it makes even closing Kodi difficult.

I have the Pivos Xios DS with what I believe is the latest Android firmware.

Half a black screen? Huh. Does that happen if you try the v14.1 test builds: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=213108

evolart: I had the same issue. The upper half of the main screen is displayed but the bottom half is blackened. This build works fine on my Pivos XIOS DS - the half screen black problem is gone.

Hi:

The problem with the video is solved but I'm having other problems.

The xios just keeps restarting after kodi loads. Sometimes it works but sometimes it crashed (after entering kodi or when scrolling library).

After several restarts I keep losing my gui settings.

Here are the log files:

Can someone help?

Thank you.

Thanks Ned that seems to have fixed both problems for me.

Any ideas in what could be the problem from the log file?

Did this fix not make it into the 14.1 or 14.2 builds? I have the same issue again with those builds.

It should be in there for v14.1 and v14.2. I'll have to dig up my XIOS DS, as it's probably somewhere in my messy room, but it was working the last time I tried it.

Thanks for taking a look Ned. I tried an upgrade and a clean install of both 14.1 / 14.2 beta and I get that half black screen issue on both.

Thumbs Up
I had this same issue no more than 10 minutes ago with the half black screen on my Pivos Xios DS.. So after reading this thread I started messing around. I only signed up just now so I can tell you how I figured mine out. In the Android Settings go to Display/Output Mode and make sure it's set to 720 and not 1080. This cured my problem right up.. If you go into Kodi System/Settings/Video Output the Display Mode is grayed out and resolution is set at 1280x720p and can't be changed. So I guess there's our answer to the improper display mismatch..

I'm also running Kodi Helix 14.2.. So I wouldn't think its a Kodi problem or maybe it is? Something the Dev's need to figure out on both ends.. lol

Hope this helps Cool
