You need to decide which OS will You be using. I'm using Openelec, so this is link with instructions on how to install: To download installation package, go to <http://openelec.tv/index.php/get-openelec> and download latest stable build for R-Pi. Then just follow the instructions on how to install from first link.

Just one of them is needed. They are all basically variations on the theme of Kodi, some (OpenElec) a bit more streamlined with just what is needed underneath, and others (RaspBMC) with more of the underlying OS under them so they have a bit more flexibility of stuff beyond media playing but possibly at the expense of additional complexity if things go wrong.

Personally I prefer OpenElec (which went live with the stable 5.0 official release of Kodi today), as for me it was much simpler to set up and get going. There is a walkthrough of setting it up from that page you linked to above, but essentially all you need to do is download the disk image from the Openelec.tv site download page and then write it to your micro-SD card using the relevant imaging software for your computer OS (again see the install page for details). But others use RaspBMC and are successful, it's up to you which way you may want to go - indeed there's no problem to try both and see which you are more comfortable with.

Helix is the latest Kodi version (and has just gone final). Look here: http://openelec.tv/news/22-releases/153-...0-released
Go to the downloads page. The diskimage is easiest to install from scratch (the other download is used when updating an existing image).

You can use something like win32diskimager to install the diskimage to an sdcard.
