WIP Blu-ray Disc Java menus support
#1
The linked build is a development/test build based on kodi's master branch. Don't blame me for destroyed userdata etc.

Win32 test build (dropbox): https://www.dropbox.com/s/rpyoy7s91npexb...8.exe?dl=0

Sources: https://github.com/ace20022/xbmc/commits/bdj08

If you want to test my branch under linux with the latest libbluray version a short todo list:
Known issues:
  • iso files with bdj menus don't start/work (mount them with a virtual drive tool)
  • network files (smb, etc.) with bdj menus don't start/work
  • some discs hang or won't start
  • some overlays (e.g., menu cursors) are not rendered correctly
  • some menus are not rendered at all
  • menu looping is broken

If a disc hangs or doesn't start stop (key X) should get you back to the gui.

In case that I need a sample, you can rip out the menu (most of the time) with Clown_BD BD Copier for example.

Happy testing Big Grin

@phate89 Could you please check, when you find some time, if some of the partially/not working discs can be played now:

Sure tomorrow I will try. Is it based on master right?
#4
Yes it's based on kodi master Wink
#5
ACE would you like log files to be video specific or for everything, I'm sure this is a noob question but anyway.
#6
Sorry, I don't understand your question.
#7
well I would like to do a lot of testing tonight (since I have converted my blurays to files I might as well put them to good use) and post logs to anything that doesn't work properly, I just wanted to be sure my log files are useful and I don't waste all the time I spent testing. I assume that enabling debugging in KODI and posting the url of my paste bin of my kodi.log is sufficient then after playing any disk I come across with problems?
Sorry if I have got this is all wrong, I am a noob here after all.
#8
No logs are needed per se. But a list with not working discs and the symptons would be useful.
#9
Out of 70 Movies, I had problems with 25 of them.
The method I used for testing was to play the movie then access the special features and select one while the movie is playing then return to the movie and stop it. I also restarted Kodi several times.
A problem I had with all 70 movies was the inability to skip chapters, strangly I could often skip the intro advertisments but this nearly always resulted in menu buttons not appearing, so I did not skip any intro advertisments.
The timing of movie menus is much better in all working cases even though sometimes it would take a while for the language selection at the very start of the disc to appear, this was the case with any movie that had a language option at the start and happened so often I did not include it in as a problem. It's just a small timing issue after all.

EDIT: I'm aware that some of the sound distortion problems could be caused by my setup, currently I am running sound via spdif to my receiver with pass through turned off in KODI and my TV is connected directly to my graphics card, (this is because my receiver currently does not support HDMI 2.0, this will be sorted soon). but really sound should be working anyway and it is a bug

EDIT: AKIRA is the only movie on the list that is not BD-J. Also since enabling Audio Pass-Through in KODI (I got my receiver) some of the blu-rays now work, these are BLADERUNNER, BLOW and BEETLEJUICE

28 WEEKS LATER - Menu buttons are missing but they appear when UP is pressed
47 RONIN - buffering forever, when stop is pressed kodi takes a while to stop buffering

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST 4&5 - After movie version selected movie does not play, blank screen
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST 6&7 - After movie version selected movie does not play, blank screen
AKIRA - After Language selection the beginning of the movie stutters very badly to the point where its unwatchable
ALIENS (SPECIAL EDITION) - Does not play, instantly returns to KODI movie select screen
AVENGERS - IRON MAN- Menu appears before it should, select "chapters" and then go back to select main movie and buttons dissapear
AVENGERS - THOR - freezes after Paramount logo, blank screen
AVENGERS - THE AVENGERS - movie freezes when exiting special features or pressing stop, Pressing stop can cause KODI to crash, distorted menu cursor
AVENGERS - IRON MAN 3 - KODI crashes when stop is pressed, distorted menu cursor
AVENGERS - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - Can cause KODI to crash when selecting special features, distorted menu cursor
AVENGERS - GAURDIANS OF THE GALAXY - Can cause KODI to crash when selecting special features
BAD SANTA (BADER SANTA EDITION) - After selection of movie version there are no menu buttons for selected version but they do appear when UP is pressed
BATMAN FOREVER - (Movie begins without menu) Sound distortion when movie starts, not playable
BATMAN RETURNS - (Movie begins without menu) Sound distortion when movie starts, not playable
BEETLEJUICE - (Movie begins without menu) Movie freezes at start
BLADE - No menu buttons but they do appear if LEFT or RIGHT is pressed
BLADERUNNER - (Movie begins without menu) Sound distortion when movie starts, not playable
BLOW - (Movie begins without menu) Movie freezes at start

CASINO - Freezes after selecting language

Thanks much! I have some discs that show the same problems, but I think we're on a good way.
#11
Defiantly! I'll do some more testing when the next build comes out.
#12
ISOs do not work, but are BDVM folder supported ?
#13
Yes.
#14
Ace,

I am very interested in getting the BD-J feature in Kodi, as all my media in my Kodi library plays as perfectly except my BD-J

Thanks

To have the latest libbluray version you need to extract the attached zip into the folder "system/players/dvdplayer"

Is it works just for Win 32 or can be used for Win64 also?
Thank you
