Hi,

I was looking for to buy an 5.1/7.1 audio system, I'm using KODI on my HP laptop... and have only stereo output.
So i want to ask If I connect the laptop to TV over HDMI, and connect the audio system to TV over optical audio will I get TrueHD audio??

I'm a noob when it comes to this, so if you need more info ask.

SPDIF (optical/coax) doesn't support Multichannel HD audio like Dolby TrueHD or DTS MA. You need HDMI between supported hardware for that. When you are buying audio system, buy one with HD audio support, those have have HDMI inputs. Then connect laptop > HDMI > audio system > HDMI > TV.

I had a little bonus on my paycheck these days so I'm planning to spend 200 euro, do you have any recommendation...
maybe some equipment you are using or have experience with.

Look for HT systems from Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha etc. All of them have atleast 4 HDMI inputs supporting various audio decoding.
