Solved Lot of reconnects while watching liveTV
#1
Hi there,

now i am at an point i need some help to get my system running. Thanks to all people here for the great informations help me to reach this point.

The Problem:
While watching live TV on my Kodi/OS X Clients (MacMini/ MacBook Pro) i get reconnects to my tvheadend server. Lost Connection then nothing for 1-2 sec then reconnected. Some times it runnes for 10 minutes smoothly, sometime it is every minute or more. Sometimes the complete system hangs for 5 or more minutes. It doesn’t matter what Channel (SD,HD, Encrypted,…)

The System:

TV Server:
I use a Server with Stable Openelec 5.0.0 x86 64 headles
There is a TV Card installed wich uses the Phillips driver using DVB-C (KabelBW). Signal Strength and Quality are 94% 97%.
For TV Streaming into my network i use TVHEadend 3.9.2182 wich came with openelec.
It is connected to my LevelOne Switch via Cat6 with 1Gig Network. The Switch is Connected with my Fritz.Box 6360 Cat6 1Gig.
The Hardware has much more power then it needs. Never get over 17% CPU Usage.

Client 1:
In my living room i use a MacMini (2012 - nvidia) as Client with OS X Mavericks.
I use Kodi 14.0 Helix Release with the HTSP TVHeadend Client.
It is Connected via Wlan to my Fritz.Repeater 450e 95-100% Signal and 120 MBit
The Repeater is Connected to my Fritz.Box 6360 with 96% Signal and 300Mbit
CPU Usage about 57%

Client 2:
MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite
I use Kodi 14.0 Helix Release with the HTSP TVHeadend Client.
Connected to Switch via Cat6 1 Gig or WLan to Fritz.box dosen’t make any difference to the problem.
CPU Usage about 83%

Client 3 (Here i have no Problems with LiveTV):
Ipad 2 with TVHeadend App watching LiveTV via internal VLC. It has an own Account to TVheadend wich uses Matroschka as Streamprofile instead of HTSP
Connected via WLan to Fritz.box

Encryption Server:
Raspberry PI with Rasbian Wheezy and OSCam 1.2 on it and smart mouse 2 Connected to Switch via Cat6 100 MBit

What i already tried:
To be sure it is not a Wlan/network problem
Connected all components via Cat6 directly to Fritz.box. It feels like i it happened not as often, but not really
Watched stored Movies over the network from TV Server (FullHD an DolbyD) H.264, TS, Matroschka. Works fine.
To be sure i have a working TV Signal
I watched directly on the TV Server with KODI and TVHeadend Client without having Problems
I recorded TV without having problems and was able to watch the records on all Clients
Changing Settings of Hardware Acceleration/ Rendermethode in Kodi
Disabled EPG while watching TV
Changing Video and Audio Buffer in advancedsettings.xml it seems it helps a little while using 5 and 10. If i raise them to 60 it reconnects every 10-30 sec
Changing Networkbuffer in advancedsettings.xml makes no difference
Changing Stream from HTSP to Passthrough in TVHeadend makes no difference. Matroschka is not working
Changed IDLE Scan and FullMultiplex receive in TVHeadend. No difference
Used TVS Client instead of HTS Client for TVHeadend
And much more i can not remember now

Here is the Log of Kodi when it reconnects:

It does seem like network... but look like you're trying all the right things.
when you're on cat6 to the switch, are you seeing any reconnects at all in the mac log files?

Hi Stevellion,

thanks for your answer. No there are no entries in the mac log files. No Errors no warnings. But still reconnects and errors in kodi.log like in the posted kodi.log.

Hi there,

I solved the Problem. It was in the TVheadend Client side and the Build for os x. I Used htsp and htv Client via repository Download and install.
Now a compiled pvr.hts 0.9.8 by my self in the machine i use it and it is working as it should. No reconnects since 18 houres?

I am happy thanks a lot
