Win Refresh Rate Reversion Issue
#1
Hi all,

First off, thanks so much for making this great piece of software! Long time user of XBMC/Kodi (from back in the actual XBox days), and I've always been a fan.

I upgraded to Kodi recently and have encountered a new issue regarding the refresh rate adjustment for content playback. I have the "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" option set to "Always", and upon starting a video Kodi does in fact match the video refresh rate (typically 24p). However, after a seemingly random (but short) period of time, the screen suddenly flashes and switches the refresh rate back to the desktop native 60Hz. Stopping and restarting the video will force Kodi to switch to the proper refresh rate, but the reversion happens again after a minute or so.

I'm running under Windows 7 64-bit on an AMD E-350 machine (reported GPU: Radeon HD 6310) with the latest Catalyst drivers, 14.12. I've quoted what I believe is the relevant portion of a debug log I captured below. I also tested this with multiple 24p video files and encountered the same behavior with all of them.

If further information is needed, please let me know; thanks in advance for any assistance!

As a followup, it's possible this is related to the encoding of the two video files I tried, as I realize they're both from the same encoding source. Trying another video after posting this thread (of course), it matched refresh rate correctly and did not revert back during playback.

Sounds like you just solved your own problem!Wink

This issue, that I've seen reported half a dozen times in the last month (and that was a fast search), is for sure related to some specific files. But it's a Kodi issue for sure since the same files work just fine in XBMC.
Always read the XBMC Online Manual,Frequently Asked Questions and search the forum before posting.

I have encountered the issue once or twice more since making this post, and it is repeatable with those files that bring on the issue.
