PVR Terminology?

You can find most of these definition norms used in the DVB BlueBooks and ETSI standards technology norm here: https://www.dvb.org/standards

See ETSI TS 102 816 and ETSI TS 102 817 (Digital Recording Extension to GEM) and which both does use the term "Scheduled Recordings":

Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Personal Video Recorder (PVR)/Personal Data Recorder (PDR) - Extension to the Multimedia Home Platform

Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Digital Recording Extension to Globally Executable Multimedia Home Platform (GEM)

Recommended reading for any PVR developers none the less.

To allow the coding guru’s focus their many hours on a clear target, we need clear standards, and they can name the code functions after the definitions.

The term Scheduled Recording is obviously the way to go and I would like to add the term ‘showings’ as what a scheduled series recording should display when queried from EPG.

Currently we have timers – Something I set to switch off the stereo off after I fall asleep.

Respectfully, not exactly appropriate, and may be part of the reason I am now asking the PVR team to enhance the timer view in a separate thread to show only one timer per scheduled series and display the showings of that schedule in a separate window.

My original enhancement post in the feature requests here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=221512

And a reference in a more appropriate thread ‘improvements for pvr section‘ here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1959166
