Bug Freeze on un-pause, crash on exit and can't open until system reboot.
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm using the latest stable version of Kodi 14 on Windows 7 Professional SP1, x64 and I have a strange bug.

It first manifests randomly when I unpause a video. Instead of resuming correctly it moves the video by a few frames and freezes for a second, then it moves the video a little more then freezes again for one second, and so on so forth. During this time if I move the mouse it also freezes but I can stop the video. After that Kodi responds normally, but will still not be able to play that video.

Closing Kodi at this stage causes it to hang and it must be forcefully closed.

After closing Kodi it is impossible to start Kodi again as it creates the process but nothing happens. A system reboot is necessary.

Log during freeze and the crash on exit: http://pastebin.com/A4pQjjcw
Log trying to open it again after the crash: http://pastebin.com/3DaWmTwb

Hope this helps,
Mircea

Looks like an error caused by an addon

Having the same issue. Windows 7 64-bit. I've been able to avoid a post-crash reboot by going into task manager and ending the Kodi process. But usually, it's shut down on it's own.

And .... oh hey, the end of your log has a message about the Trakt add-on... and I have that, too. I'm gonna disable it and report back.

[EDIT] So far, so good. I started a 720p video, paused it for a good 20mins and the video resumed with no crashing. Try disabling Trakt.

To be honest, my main reason for using XBMC/Kodi was the Trakt scrobbling support. I recently found an updated version of the Trakt plug in (2.3.2 vs 2.3.1 available in Kodi) here: https://github.com/Razzeee/script.trakt

Seems to be working fine so far.

The updated Trakt plugin didn't fix the problem, but I discovered something new.

When Kodi hangs on exit, if I open Windows Resource Monitor --> CPU --> (right-click Kodi) --> Analyze Wait Chain [1]
I find that Kodi is waiting for a svchost.exe (LocalServiceNetworkRestricted) process. If I choose to end only this process, Kodi exits cleanly and I can start it again without rebooting. After closing that process I get an Audio Service not running error, but clicking on the volume icon from the system tray automatically starts Audio Service and everything returns to normal.

I've just started getting this on 14.2 and Win 8.1.

I'm also running the new Trakt 3.0.0 (a great addon I might add), so I'll try and disable trakt, and see if that fixes it, be a shame if that's the issue!!

Will report back, unless someone already knows this is the issue?
