Any Kinect v2 support?
#1
Maybe a dumb question, but it never hurts too much to ask. I was interested in buying the newer version Kinect for Windows v2. Can it be used with Kodi? I found info on the Kinemote software and it says it will work with XBMC and other stuff too but I figured devs here would know much better than they do how well it can be incorporated.
I love walking into Radio Shack and when the worker asks what you need, I say "I'm looking for a 1N4148 Diode." Then they have the look on their face of absolute uselessness. If it's not a cell phone, they just don't know what it is any more.

Buy one and try it, someone have to be the first. Occipital is still keeping OpenNI 2 alive and kicking here http://structure.io/openni

At least Microsoft Kinect v2 sensor should work with the very latest OpenNI 2 drivers according to this https://github.com/occipital/OpenNI2/pull/33

So is OpenNI like an open source driver? I can't find info on how to use it or what it's main purpose is. I would have thought that buying the v2 for Windows would have drivers to run the device. I won't be able to buy one for a couple weeks or so. I'm checking it out but info, especially for the new v2 model, seems to be kind of spread out here and there. The Kinemote site also has a lot of bad links and I can't see any valuable info on it.

OpenNI2 is an open source SDK (Software Development Kit) that replaces Microsoft's Kinect SDK

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenNI

SDK is a framework which makes it easier for developer to develop software applications, (like KinEmote), for the Kinect and other Kinect-like products.

I actually don't have a Kinect myself so can't really help much more. Google is your friend...
