My idea is to replace the Topfield in the living room with a tvheadend server on the attic, and FireTV on the tv.
And more FireTV on other TVs.

So I compare the Topfield with the tvheadend solution.

The tvheadend timeshift has some missing feature, which I like on the Topfield (tf):
- tvh had no time counter showing the offset
- tvh has no indicator showing the gap to the live stream
- on the tf Ihas cursor right for 1 min jump, left for 30 Sec. back.
- at tvh cursor right gives me the choice between channels, but jump is not possible

can I somewhere customize the cursor functions?

You can adjust the keymap to make it jump back and forth instead of the weird group switcher thing (which is about to be removed so this hack won't be necessary anymore). I think you can adjust the amount to jump as well using advancedsettings.xml. The two first though are still on the TODO list.
