Kodi v14.2 beta testing (includes fixes for crash problems seen in 14.0 & 14.1)

Quote:Where are people having all these crash issues?
@C.Taylor Not sure if you are trolling asking for this, or if you want to know it.

If it's the latter just look in this thread at the posts before you, and also this huge one where we all came from to begin with:
204647 (thread)

Or this one i made back the 1th december after a week or so with ALOT of crashes (And have had crashes ever since).
210261 (thread)

Only way we found that can reproduce the bug (But only sometimes) is this.
Quote:To make it crash i started a TvShow episode, then i opened Yatse app on my smartphone and navigated to the "Now Playing" screen (basically is the second screen when you swipe left from the app's main screen) and "dang" Kodi crashed.

Sorry for the incomplete information, but I just started seeing this problem in the 14.1 FINAL release.

I upgraded from 13.2 to 14.1 - so can't comment on 14.0. I was not expecting to be in the "tiny portion" of crashing users (which, I'm guessing at this point is actually 100% of Windows users), but here I am...

I have been pretty readily able to reproduce the problem using the "Play to XBMC/Kodi" extension for google chrome (slinging youtube to my tv)
https://github.com/khloke/play-to-xbmc-chrome
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...nfo-dialog

(Kodi is running on my media server/htpc, with web server enabled)
1. Open youtube video on my laptop
2. Play to Kodi (from chrome)
3. Video starts on htpc
4. Status in "Play to..." extension reflects that it is playing
5. Kodi crashes
6. "Play to" shows disconnected

My guess at this point would be that it's happening where it tries to update the client with the current location (or other info?) of whatever's playing (part of the "Play to" extension is that it shows current progress of the video with player controls).

I have not had any other XBMC/Kodi crashes (that I can think of) before this one.

Kodi 14.1 FINAL
Windows 7x64
AMD 5600+ APU
8GB RAM

This was also one way i had it crash alot. Not that it fixes my crashs but i found a workaround so i at least can send YT vids to my HTPC.
If you use pushbullet on your computer (phone or anywhere), and install the pushbullet addon for XBMC, you can push the link to xbmc and that wont crash it.
This don't mean that my crashes are gone, but they are random, and don't come with me sending YT to my HTPC anymore.

Are quite good indicator that the crashs are tied to playlist access from JSON

Sounds like some crazy crash problems. I'm just not seeing them myself (knock on wood)..

Oh look, 100th post. Yay!

2 new crashes, both when i was making food and streaming so i didn't do anything and it crashed.
I packed them both in one rar, but one crash in a folder and one not.

Add me to the "so far" list of no crash thus far....16 hours.

THANK YOU for your continued work!

In case you want to look at anything to compare...here is where you will find the debug logs for two crashes from version that was posted on Feb 2 on the main download are.

Kodi ver 14.1 Downloaded on Feb 2.

Here is a crash after watching TV show off hard disk. Right when it ended and pressed STOP, it crashed out.

And this was was just now when I loaded Kodi and went into SYSTEM to turn off Debug. Got the the screen Debug in on then Poof. Gone.

Currently with your Feb 5 test version...16 hours and counting without issue.
