How to watch media without adding to library
#1
Hi there

A friend of ours is staying with us for a few weeks, and has brought his NAS with him.

I don't want to add the contents of the nas to my library, but he would like to be able to watch some of his stuff on the main TV through Kodi.

I can't seem to find a file browser that will connect to his nas share and just allow him to play something, without adding it as a source first (which then adds to the library) . Does this exist and I am just missing the blindingly obvious?

Thanks [/size]

Have you tried System>File Manager>Add Source?

Add the source, just don't set any content. Then browse in Videos -> Files.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

Thanks. See, it was obvious and I was being blind.
