Canada streams and TV shows
#1
Rainbow
Hi,

Looking for Canada streams and TV shows, CTV, and more. I live in the U.S. and adddon "Canada On Demand" does not seem to work for me. Can anyone assist with any other video addons that have a working CTV and more from Canada?

TIA

I really want the TSN's back. Especially TSN3. I am going to have to start to learn the coding for XBMC so I can hopefully be a part of the help in fixing the issue with this repo especially.

Anyone know of any solution?

The following streams are taken from the official broadcast websites and don't require questionable addons:

CHCH (broadcasts 4am-7pm and 11pm-12am Monday-Friday, as well as 6pm-7pm and 11pm-12am on the weekends)
rtmp://54.85.197.21:1935/live/news live=1 timeout=15

Global TV Halifax

Global TV Vancouver

Actually I was able to get CHCH to work using the strm file method shown here:
http://kodi.wiki/view/Internet_video_and_audio_streams
My earlier test was not during the 'on' times noted by 'learningit'

Could still use help with the Global stations

You can create a .strm file, which is just a text file from notepad, etc. which contains a single url link and is named something.strm. You need to put it in a directory which kodi can access. I usually create a directory called "media" in userdata. The other option is to create an m3u file that looks like this:

Code:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,CHCH
rtmp://54.85.197.21:1935/live/news
#EXTINF:-1,Global TV Halifax
http://link.theplatform.com/s/dtjsEC/77l1KA_G_5P1?feed=DEV%20Live%20Stream%20Feed
#EXTINF:-1,Global TV Vancouver
http://link.theplatform.com/s/dtjsEC/EqBPGYLY6fEx?feed=DEV%20Live%20Stream%20Feed
#EXTINF:-1,Global Tv Toronto
http://link.theplatform.com/s/dtjsEC/hdSH3iztz_j_?feed=DEV%20Live%20Stream%20Feed

and name it something.m3u . The advantage of the .strm is that you can create a .nfo file and add it to the library. The advange of m3u is that you can add it to the Simple IPTV PVR addon and with a bit of work loading an EPG, it can be seamless in Kodi. The TV Guide addon can also be used to play these urls with TV listings. The trick and the pain with these is that I find I have to load separate EPGs and combine them because the listings are in different cities.

The Global stations are only available in the US and Canada. I actually have Montreal and Calgary as well, but they don't play in the US. If you are elsewhere, you will need to use a US or Canadian proxy to play the channels.

learningit I'm in Canada so that's not the problem. I've tried putting the .m3u8 files in the same folder as the strm file with no joy. I've also tried putting the link to the m3u8 file in a strm file also with no luck. Will try your m3u example next.

Thanks for posting the info, I'm watching CHCH on Kodi on my RPi right now (6:50PM MST).

Where are you finding .m3u8 files? Use the links posted above, the .m3u8 links will expire in hours.

From the links you posted. I didn't understand that they expired.
