Question on mini HTPC build
#1
Hello. So I am considering a mini PC for a tv in the bedroom for Kodi. The plan is to use it only for streaming media from my main HTPC in the living room. It is running over a Gigabit network. I only need it to play new media, run Windows 7 (chopped down to bare minimum services running), and be powerful enough to stream Steam games from the main unit. (Steam now does over the network streaming of games if they are running off the main PC.) I was looking into mini ITX boards like these -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...91combined with this --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819113331 but I wanted to know if the AMD processors that would go with the boards be strong enough to run what I want to do. I was planning on a board like that with onew of AMDs better APUs that would work with it. Any ideas? Thanks!
I love walking into Radio Shack and when the worker asks what you need, I say "I'm looking for a 1N4148 Diode." Then they have the look on their face of absolute uselessness. If it's not a cell phone, they just don't know what it is any more.

People don't like this but its the truth- AMD is so behind the process and IPC curve that I don't think anyone should have a AMD CPU in their HTPC in 2015. Maybe a server, but not the HTPC.

For what you want to do I would get an i3 NUC or something. A Haswell NUC could easily do that.

Edit: I just double checked and any Ivy or Haswell NUC should easily work.
