I'm hoping for some advice or tips.

My previous setup was: Openelec (running 24/7), Couchpotato, Sickbeard, Headphones, and Sabnzbed (on my unRAID server 24/7) in perfect unison.

when a download was reported from any program it would then send a notification over to my openelec client which would then run a library scan. This meant that my library would always be up to date with the latest content available.

I recently decided to incorporate User Profiles into my setup due to the fact that there are many people in the household and I do not want to have my watched statuses mixed up. I downloaded an auto log off script so that after 15 minutes of inactivity Kodi will log off and remain on the profile selection screen.

The problem is that openelec will now spend the majority of its time in the profile selection screen which means that the notifications from sickbeard, coupotato, etc will not go through.

I changed the settings so that Kodi updates the library every time someone logs in, but I am trying to reduce the amount of updates that occur in order to minimize disks spinning up and down on my unRAID server.

Is there a way to retain the notification updates and have a unified library throughout the different profiles?

I've considered mysql but I've read that it is on its way out so I'd rather not invest time in setting that up.

I've also considered using Plexbmc and Mediabrowser libraries, but I believe those are reliant on skins supporting them.

Netflix since a while back have a nice pop-up implementation for marking watch status for multiple users

I think it might be possible to to have a script log in and out of each profile at a certain time, like at night or when no one will be watching TV.

EDIT: is this just for a single HTPC, or are there multiple HTPCs involved?

It is for a single HTPC in the living room (the shared tv). The rest of the HTPCs will have single users.

I already have a log off script that activates after 15 minutes because frankly, if it doesn't log off on its own right after being used, no one here in the house will bother to change profiles. Its more WAF than anything.

What if you have two, three, or four family members watching the same movie or episode at the same time sometimes?

How to you tag movies or episodes as watched for multiple users?

I will have trakt doing the syncing. Each profile will have their own corresponding trakt account.
