Kodi crashes with vnsi plugin
#1
Dear all,

my Kodi 14.1 (installed on RPI B+ on Arch Linux) crashes and restarts (at least once a day) when running in idle-mode (system is not used).
I now have traced it down to be somehow related to the PVR function. I use the vnsi-plugin (1.9.22) as PVR-Addon (to connect to my headless VDR).

When I deactivate the Live-TV in the setting dialog, the system is running through a complete day without any crashes.

Can you assist here? What information do you need?

I see, you have connected Kodi to a vdr backend which shuts down and restarts independently from Kodi. I will have a closer look into this.

I just had once again a closer look at these crashes. The syslog says that the cause is a segfault - unfortunatelly it does not tell in which thread in which function.

gdb is installed. I have some issue getting a stacktrace into the crash log. See http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1927615

How can I test this on my 14.1 Kodi installation? Will this also be ported to the Helix code line?

Unfortunatelly not. I compiled the PVR plugins from the helix branch on git on tuesday. This state also include this PR. The issue still persists.
I also still have issues generating core files (see http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1927615).
But some additional information can be found in the following diagrams:
watch gallery

The first one shows if my VDR machine is up (1) or down(0). The second diagram show the system load of the Kodi machine.
Kodi crashed at about 9:30 am. The restart of Kodi wakes up the VDR machine. As VDR has nothing to do it goes down shortly after that. Next You see that the load after the Kodi restart at 9:30 is below 1.
At about 1:40 pm the VDR machine wakes up (for a recording). This immediately boosts up the system load on the Kodi machine. The high system load remains even after the shutdown of the VDR machine.

Maybe this load issue is a separate issue but maybe it's also related to the Kodi crashes.
