WinBook TW801 Tablet.. Solid for Kodi?
#1
I'm looking to make a simple Kodi setup for a family member.. It'll mostly be micro 720p rips i've done myself with a few 1080p's thrown in and a lot of music videos all coming from a 3tb external.. With the winbook only being $99 it seemed to be a quick easy htpc machine? They'd also do small web usage and with windows installed I figured everything would sync easily...

Has anyone tried this? Searching doesn't bring back much results.. Should be sufficient for these needs though?

I'm not sure about the TW801, but I just bought the TW700 for $60 and I love it. Not really usable as a general use tablet (Win 8 and screen size... meh), at least when I compare it to my iPad or some of the Android tablets I've used, but for video it is perfect. And you can use the HDMI port and just use it as a cheap intel HTPC. At this price, it's a better deal than the exact same devices which don't have a screen/battery (same guts/specs, that is). Kodi runs really well on those baytrail Atom processors. I say go for it.

Liliputing have a whole list of cheap Windows tablets here

Only 7-inch though, so might be nicer to only use as a Kodi remote maybe?

It's not bad if you're in a car. If you're in a hotel then you can probably use the HDMI out port. I try not to think of it as a tablet, but an HTPC that just so happens to have a screen :D
