Using EPG Collector with dvbviewer.

So (again, for me) - ''ALL EPG Collector.ini' is an ini file for anything that's not Freeview, Sky uk or Sky Italy?
And you want to run all 4 .ini's once a day each?

Just to test things are working, can you:
1. Take a snapshot of the whole 'EPG Collector' folder so you can revert any changes.
2. Copy 'sky uk EPG Collector.ini' to anywhere, re-name it to 'EPG Collector.ini' and paste it back into the folder (so you now have 5 .ini's in the folder).
3. Open notepad, and paste the following* text (not the 'quote though) into it:
Quote:@echo OFF
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Geekzone\EPG Collector\EPGCollector.exe"
exit
Now save this as 'EPG Collector.bat' - the name doesn't matter, but make sure you save it as 'all files', not 'text file'.

Double-click EPG Collector.bat - does it collect your sky-uk data?

*Edit: check the address in the .bat file is the same as yours - it's wherever EPGCollector.exe is installed, mine is in the default place on Windows7 x64.

this is the outcome

Arse!

How do you normally run the files?
Do you normally open EPGCentre.exe, load each file and run from there?

What happens if you try to run the new file (EPG Collector.ini) the same way as normal?
Does it work?

Does it work automatically if you just open EPGCollector.exe?
If not what does the log say?

Okay, that's not at all how it works on my setup.
Are you using the latest version of EPG Collector?

I've been playing around with my setup and I think something's not quite right at your end.
Can you confirm...
There's definitely a file in C:\Users\mark\AppData\Local\Geekzone\EPG Collector\ called (exactly) 'EPG Collector.ini'?
And that file will run from EPGCentre but not from EPGCollector.exe?

Because that's exactly how mine's set up and it just works when I start EPGCollector.exe. That's the intended behaviour as far as I can see. We need to get that working first.

ok i got this to work

the problem was i had the file named "EPG Collector.ini"
it should be "EPG Collector"

It's not nice, but that really made me laugh. Laugh

Anyway that's great - can you try running the batch file again?

Edit: I guess you don't see file extensions in windows, so you had EPG Collector.ini.ini - been there, done that.

yes the batch file works

but there is one other thing springs to mind as to why i could never combine it all into 1 ini file.

where i am in the UK required a specific setting and could only ever be run on its own
if i combined everything then the specific setting needed for the UK could not be set..which obviously was no good
it was the location parameter....you can not have 2 different location parameters in the same ini file...it wont work

any ways...if you can show me how to run it all as separates i would be very happy

Now that's working it should be doable.
I'm having a quick mess with a batch file to try.

ok im now recreating one ini file with no set location parameters.
im running it now..if this works then only the scheduled task might be enough to grab all i need.

will let you know how it goes
