Hmmmmm..... @Newbie 1: I took a look at your posting history. It seems that you have not asked for specific help with any of your issues. Instead, you prefer to write blocks of text such as the one above.

I suggest you ask for help with your issues one by one, and at least read http://kodi.wiki/view/First_time_user.

"I am extremely interested in one of these large cd changers. I called a online company and asked them if they had a unit like this that played everything up to a burnt b"Blue Ray" that worked as a file sever that could hook to a computer"

Wow. o.o Talk about shooting for the moon when you can't even get a sailboat across a lake. o.o

~some reasoning~

Kodi users believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Kodi developers believe that if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

Yup, and in this, as in all things, I agree with the users. That's why I refuse to use these "powered wagons" everyone is always talking about and instead stick to my dependable horses. Horses haven't let me down so far!

Now that's a noble idea. Parse the Wiki then using a basic and built in "browser" of sorts, that can pop up when you highlight an option and press "?" on the keyboard, show that extra help information that is relevant to the setting.

As for the OP, you mentioned that apps are crashing. Are you referring to apps outside of Kodi?

So now we want a browser built into kodi? Don't think it's gonna happen!

Why wouldn't it be possible for this to happen?
I'm not saying it should happen just curious?
I'm no dev (obviously) but couldn't a "tab" of Kodi launch a free to use Browser that still resides within the actual Kodi window itself?

I mean, the xbox one and the ps4 can both browse the internet if I'm not mistaken.

It seems to be a feature people want out of their Media PC as many HTPC/TV Box/HTPC sticks have this feature.

Well there are addons like chrome launcher. But they are hard to control with a remote, difficult to make multi platform.

A very limited browser to show wiki pages (which are a subset of the js laden, ad driven net we see on most browsers) wouldn't be too difficult.

But then you need to link up the various pages on the wiki with settings in kodi. And kodi is multi language, the wiki is English only (I think).

And then maintaining it all...

Noone said it's impossible. But just because it's possible doesn't mean it's going to happen. It's definitely far from a trivial thing to do.

Personally I don't understand wanting to browse the internet on your TV. Even if the controls are made somewhat usable many webpages aren't exactly easy to read from a couple of feet away. Besides who doesn't have a smartphone and / or tablet within reach that provide a much better experience in this regard.

You shouldn't have to need a wiki to use Kodi's main features. If a lot of people do, making Kodi easier is the solution here not building in a browser.

Having an embedded browser engine would be beneficial for the purpose of being able to play certain webbased content like HTML5 video types though.

All imo ofc.

What Jereon said. HTPC has to be rat free for me. So add a big +1 to your IMO Smile

there is no need for a browser to pull some (well defined) help text from our wiki and show it maybe in a pop up window. Might even be doable with an addon.
Then again, confluence already shows a help text for settings at the bottom.
